Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Muhammad Ali wants Manny to win, claims legendary fighter's daughter

The two go toe-to-toe in Las Vegas on May 2 and "the Greatest" is apparently all in on the Filipino underdog

Muhammad Ali wants Manny Pacquaio to beat Floyd Mayweather in May's Las Vegas blockbuster.
The two foes will go toe-to-toe at the MGM Arena on May 2 in one of the most eagerly anticipated fights in decades.
Unbeaten Mayweather is the favourite to emerge victorious but the underdog Filipino has received backing from the greatest fighter of all.
Ali's daughter Rasheda revealed that her dad is firmly on Pacquiao's side and will be rooting for him on fight night.

Tyson says the fighters who have troubled Pacquiao have been prolific punchers.
"Floyd doesn't throw nowhere near 100 punches a round," he said. "He's more, you know, scientific about it. He really plots a lot. And he sits around and he poses. And this guy (Pacquiao) is all over - fading, moving.
"I just don't think (Mayweather) is going to be able to play that plotting, skill ... Floyd's got to fight the first couple of rounds."
Tyson isn't the only former heavyweight world champion who has his eye on Pacquiao-Mayweather.

Pacquiao vs Mayweather Live HBO Boxing

Tensions continue to flare before their May 2 bout.
Manny Pacquiao’s legendary trainer Freddie Roach says Floyd Mayweather is a bad seed and that he is looking forward to seeing the 38-year-old get knocked out when he squares off with the Filipino superstar in May.

During an interview with sports analyst Jim Rome over the weekend, Roach slated the undefeated welterweight for being “very insecure” and claimed he’s set a poor example for younger generations. Once you are able to avoid taking side with a boxer then you might be able to appreciate the virtues and flaws of both Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr without bias, as they head towards their fight on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. As for Pacquiao and Mayweather loyal fans it is almost impossible to reason with them of why one of them would lose, because a fan boy will never accept his fighter is the underdog and is more likely to lose the bout. The boxing experts know very well how to spot the flaws on a fighter and also are able to distinguish the strengths and weakness on the different boxing styles but casual fans are a different story. Another classic matador versus the bull encounter is awaiting fight fans on May 2nd.

Many opponents have fallen to Mayweather and Pacquiao since demand for the fight was at its peak in 2010. Whilst Manny was a seemingly unstoppable force at this time, the pressure fighter has since been subject to a knockout loss to his counter-punching nemesis, Juan Manuel Marquez. Pressure fighters do not age as well as counter-punchers and many could argue that Manny is now exhibiting a degree of wear and tear. I think that Floyd is too intelligent. I don't see what all the hoopla is about this fight. You talking about Floyd, who is undefeated in 47 fights. He won all of them. You got Pacquiao who got knocked out flat on his face and about 5 losses in his career and stylistically, they say styles make a fight," stated Gary Russell Sr., trainer and father of featherweight contender Gary Russell Jr., who shared his thoughts on the highly-anticipated mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. As far as Russell Sr. is concerned, Pacquiao has been exposed to having problems with intelligent fighters and there's no smarter fighter in side the ring than Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather Jr is, with 38 years old, still undefeated, with a record of 47 fights and 0 losses. On June 6, 2008, six months after defeating Ricky Hatton by a tenth-round TKO, Mayweather announced his retirement from boxing. At the time, plans were in motion for a rematch with Oscar De La Hoya, which was going to take place September 20, 2008. This decision was not an easy one for me to make as boxing is all I have done since I was a child, Mayweather said. However, these past few years have been extremely difficult for me to find the desire and joy to continue in the sport. At the time 31-year-old Mayweather registered 39 wins and no losses in his historic career. At the time of his retirement, The Ring magazine had Mayweather ranked as the number 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, with Manny Pacquiao at number 2.

During Mayweather's brief retirement, Pacquiao earned superstar status in much of the western world with his eighth-round TKO victory over Óscar de la Hoya, for which he moved up from lightweight to welterweight (135 pounds to 147 pounds).

Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao, billed as To Fight of the Century, is an upcoming boxing match between undefeated, five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather jr, and six-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

Despite predictions that Mayweather and Pacquiao would be the highest grossing fight in history as early as 2009, disagreements between the two world boxers' campions on terms for the fight prevented the bout from coming to fruition until 2015. The failure to make the Mayweather to Pacquiao fight was named The Ring magazine Event of the Year for 2010. However, negotiations for the superfight in 2015 have since been finalized, with all of the major issues that have prevented the fight from happening in the past now resolved, including purse split, drug testing, and location of the bout. On February 20, 2015, Mayweather confirmed on social media that the fight had indeed been signed. The contest was agreed on May 2, 2015.
